It was an intimate 41st birthday party for Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Wife Sakshi Dhoni took to Instagram to share a glimpse of the special birthday treat to her hubby.

Dressed in a grey and black jacket, the former Team India captain can be seen cutting a butterscotch fruit cake in the presence of his family and friends with sparkling candles and sweet treats on the table. In the background, MAHI was spelt out in giant gold balloons in the brief video.

Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant - who is the United Kingdom for an all-format series against the hosts - also joined the Dhonis for the celebration. Mrs Dhoni shared an Instagram Story of the entire group of family and friends celebrating the former cricketer's birthday.

With his family, Dhoni celebrated his birthday in the United Kingdom. The cricketer had planned an extended trip with his wife to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary on Monday.

Meanwhile, Dhoni was recently spotted enjoying a Wimbledon 2022 match. The official handle of Chennai Super Kings shared the picture on Twitter.

Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was also spotted at the event. The cricket aces may have been in the stadium to cheer Sania Mirza or catch a glimpse of the 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal.

Last week, Dhoni was in the news for seeking treatment for his knee pain from a doctor who attends to his patients under a tree in a remote village in Ranchi.

Vaidya Bandhan Singh Kharwar, who treats ailments with wild herbs, charged Dhoni Rs 40 for a single dose of medicine.

About 70 km from Ranchi, at Katingkela in Lapung police station area, Kharwar has been treating patients for the last 28 years. He has a tarpaulin tent under a tree where Dhoni has been visiting him for the last one month at an interval of four days to get a dose of his medicine. The medicine prepared by Kharwar for the treatment of bone ailments is such that it cannot be carried home.

Before Dhoni, his parents were treated by this doctor. Kherwar told IANS that he did not initially recognise Dhoni's parents nor could he recognise Dhoni. He learnt of his famous patient only when the people in the neighbourhood gathered around for photos with him.

"Dhoni comes like a normal patient without any pomp. He has no pride in being a celebrity. However, now every four days, the news of Dhoni's arrival gathers his fans here. So now he sits in his car while his medicine is administered to him," Kherwar was quoted as saying.

In August 2020, the ace player announced retirement from international cricket on social media. However, he played for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League and was the captain of the franchise. Under her leadership, CSK has won four IPL titles out of the 10 it has featured.

Dhoni won hearts with his debut for India against Bangladesh on December 23, 2004 in Chattogram. During his 15-year long career, he played a total of 538 matches (90 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 98 T20Is) for India.

Under his captaincy, India won the 2011 ICC World Cup, 2007 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. His final game was against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup semifinal on July 10, 2019.
