Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has courted controversy after a wedding in his family was solemnised flouting all norms to be practised during the lockdown. Visuals of the politician's son Nikhil tying the knot with Revathi, the niece of former Congress minister M Krishnappa, on Friday show that there was no social distancing followed at the ceremony that was being conducted in the middle of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The groom was dressed in a traditional ivory kurta, while the bride opted for a gold silk saree. The guests at the ceremony were spotted without wearing masks, something that has been urged by the Government to be followed strictly while the country continues to be in a lockdown to fight Covid.

The ceremony was reportedly held at Kumaraswamy's farmhouse at Kethaganahalli near Bidadi. Earlier, a grand wedding bash had been planned for the couple at Janapadaloka, but it had to be cancelled due to the corornavirus outbreak.
