- In 2007, Anushka Sharma made her modelling debut at the Lakme Fashion Week
- After being a part of some advertisement campaigns, she debuted as a Hindi film actress in the 2008 movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, in which she was paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Her performance in the movie earned her Filmfare nominations in both the best actress and best debut (female) categories
- Sharma was next cast in the 2010 movie Band Baaja Baaraat, alongside the debutant actor Ranveer Singh. The film was a huge success and got her a second Filmfare nod in the best actress category
- She won her career’s first Filmfare, in the best supporting actress category, for her role in the movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan
