The 2024 Chicago White Sox season is the club's 125th season in Chicago, their 124th in the American League and their 34th at Guaranteed Rate Field. It is their first full season under general manager Chris Getz. They attempt to improve from their 61–101 season from the previous year – as of April 25, they had opened with a 3–22 record, the worst to that mark in franchise history.
On June 6, after a 14–2 loss against the Boston Red Sox, the White Sox set a franchise record for most consecutive losses with 14, until that streak was surpassed nearly two months later with a 15 game losing streak with their loss to the Kansas City Royals on July 29. As of July 31, the losing streak stands at 17 games following a blowout loss, and a series sweep, to the Royals[1].
On July 14, after a 9–4 loss against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the White Sox set the MLB record for most losses before the All-Star break at 71.[2]
On August 2, after a 10–2 loss to the Minnesota Twins, the White Sox set a new franchise record for most consecutive losses at 18, after setting a 14-game losing streak a month prior. They also became the first team since the 2021 Baltimore Orioles to suffer two different losing streaks of 14 or more losses. They would also be the fastest to be guaranteed a losing season since the 2003 Detroit Tigers, who lost 82 of their first 111 games, by losing 82 of their first 109 games that same day.
