Article critique for education module

[edit]

The information in this article seems solid enough based on the types of sources, but it leaves me with a few questions. Unless I'm missing it or the information isn't loading for some reason, the chemical reaction mentioned in the article isn't actually shown or cited. The information that Actinidain is an allergen and meat tenderizer is also lacking citations. Lastly, I'm wondering if there aren't any sources describing Actinidain that are more recent than 1987. I realize that the enzyme is probably under-studied, but nearly 30 years is quite a long time for no research to occur at all. More recent sources, as I'm hoping to find on the topic, would really bolster the validity of the information. Rossi135 (talk) 17:55, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Actinidain in other fruits

[edit]

"Actinidain is a type of cysteine protease enzyme found in fruits including kiwifruit (genus Actinidia), pineapple, mango, banana and papaya." Where's the reference for this? I don't think this is even true. It seems to be true that pineapples, papayas and figs contain cystein proteases (bromelain, papain and ficain, respectively), but I did not find any references to any other fruits besides kiwifruit containing actinidain specifically. And BTW, this reference (Rao, Nalluri. (1989). cysteine protease inhibitors from banana. Current science. 58. 1320-1322.) found cysteine protease _inhibitors_ in bananas. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.243.171.101 (talk) 00:40, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
