AJP JServ predates Tomcat

[edit]

Doesn't AJP pre-date Tomcat - indeed, Apache JServ itself was the Apache implementation of a servlet container in the very early days. My recollection is that the AJP protocol (maybe an earlier version) was supported in that to be able to daisy chain the JServ servlet container to Apache httpd and it was carried over to Tomcat and became somewhat of a standard. mod_jserv of that day that linked Apache JServ to Apache httpd used AJP as its protocol - I was pretty sure. I'm really struggling to find documentation on the web to back up my statement though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nathanr.au (talkcontribs) 01:35, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
