The tracks on the tractor in the New Zealand photo are put on backwards

[edit]

For what it is worth, the tracks on the tractor shown in the New Zealand photo are on backwards! The traction bars, or grousers, that are on the track shoes, are supposed to be located on the front part of the shoes looking at the upward-facing side of the tracks. The other photo of the new tractor doing road work in the Cibola National Forest of New Mexico, United States, in 1931, has its tracks mounted correctly with the grousers on the front of the track shoes.
