Edgar Watson

[edit]
Confirmed

Re the Edgar Watson part: It's Chatham River, not "Chatham Bend River." The Watson Place was at Chatham Bend on the river. This correction is much in order. It would also be good to mention to the reader that Peter Matthiessen has now authored four historical novels running thousands of pages in all on the Watson saga. The fellow this article has as Dutchy Melvin, Matthiessen may have as Dutchy Melville; this needs to be checked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Serotino (talkcontribs) 00:57, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shadow Country: a new rendering of the Watson legend (2008) is the comprehensive novel(?) by Peter Matthiessen, based on a 1990s trilogy.
I have taken the liberty of "assigning" that orphan article to {{WPFlorida}} as well as WP Novels, with a Start grade. The one in-line reference includes the note "(With interview, acceptance speech by Matthiessen, and essay by Harold Augenbraum from the Awards 60-year anniversary blog.)" which means that three more probably-useful sources are linked to the given not-very-useful source. See also Talk:Shadow Country. --P64 (talk) 16:37, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Climate

[edit]

The WP article Florida climate has a map placing Chokoloskee in either the "humid subtropical" or "savannah" zone (on the border between the two zones). Whichever climate classification is used, it needs to have a citation to a reliable source. - Donald Albury 14:02, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ZIP codes

[edit]

Trying to find out what year that they changed the ZIP Code for Chokoloskee Island from 33925 to 34138, I have a postcard with that ZIP Code on it from Parkway Motel Marina I’m trying to find out what year it is the postcard LLChilds (talk) 14:54, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That is not something that is usually included in Wikipedia articles (I don't recall seeing such information in any article I have edited or read). You may be able to narrow the period in which the zip code was changed by careful on-line searches. For instance, I very quickly found this Florida Zip Code Directory from 1984, in which the zip code for Chokoloskee was 33925. However, we are all volunteers here, and I, for one, have neither the inclination nor the leisure to search for reliable sources on this issue. Good luck in your own search.
