Race

[edit]

One-half of the article is a debate on whether Peattie was racist or not. This is mostly irrelevant and should be removed or reduced to a sentence or two. 2601:1C0:7184:68B0:71A0:6CF0:397E:A455 (talk) 06:32, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. And imagine if a study were done on everyone worthy of a Wikipedia page throughout history. Would anyone make it through without having their accomplishments overshadowed by cherry picked and over weighted examples of indiscretions (as much lamentable as they were a sign of the times)? I've learned more about the natural world and been brought to tears of joy more often in reading Peattie than any other author I can think of. And there are innumerable passages where he demonstrates his respect and admiration of races (most notedly Native Americans) to make this passage stand out as entirely atypical. What agenda is the author of this article pursuing? The effect is a amplification of racism rather than a denunciation. 70.83.138.93 (talk) 23:24, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
