Phenomenologists, Postmodernism

[edit]

Do I have to be the person who suggests that there might be work by people like Husserl, Levinas, Foucault, Lyotard, Derrida, and others that might be instance of this brand of externalism? Or do we try to keep the philosophy of mind to ourselves in anglo-american philosophy? I was glad to see Dewey listed. I'm reading his "Experience and Nature" right now and it is pure externalism in places. I don't think this is particular to pragmatism -James hoped to eliminate consciousness if I remember correctly, and his will to believe material is very internalist. But I could be wrong, James is pretty out there (if not externally). - Teetotaler 15 February, 2015

It may make sense to add this to an existing section. John Searle frequently engages in discussing ideas of Derrida and some of the continental philosophers. Shaded0 (talk) 01:18, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
