"however, this is actually untrue" -- not the best phrasing, perhaps. I'll try to improve it. EdC 10:29, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"and contain a dry ski slope" -- not particularly relevant, and mentioned at Pentland Hills.

Edinburgh Rock -- a redlink; Castle Rock is a disambig which links Edinburgh Castle.

Re-write

[edit]

I've done a re-write - feel free to improve on it! I've attempted to tidy up the 7 hills bit, and have added heights for some of them (though couldn't find all of them). I've also added in a comment about the 7 hills race not doing Wester Craiglockhart. I've run the race twice and know that this is the case, but I don't know exactly why - I assume because it is private property, but if anyone else knows better, please correct me. I've also added a new section about the hilly nature of streets in the centre of Edinburgh - not sure if this belongs here, but I think it helps to explain many people's perception of Edinburgh as a hilly city, even if they never get as far as Corstorphine or the Braids (let alone the Pentlands !) If anyone disagrees with any of the above, as I say, feel free to improve it. GeraldH 16:41, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The bit about hills in the centre conflates slopes with hills. Roads going off the Royal Mile do not constitute hills. --MacRusgail 16:46, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And we've got zip for references... /wangi 16:53, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That can be done fairly quickly, but it's the weekend, and the library can wait til next week.--MacRusgail 20:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC) p.s. I reckon Edinburgh Rock could do with its own article separate from the castle.[reply]

Clarification required

[edit]

I don't think the following statement makes sense: "There are also hills beneath the New Town, and the Old Town to the south of the Cowgate. Some of these hills rise to heights substantially above the traditional seven — for example parts of Fairmilehead at 183m." I think the word 'beneath' may be the problem. Does it mean 'under' the buildings rather than lower down the slopes? Also, "Some of these hills..." can't be exemplified by Fairmilehead which lies well away from both Old and New Towns. Potential redirect?

[edit]

Much of the substantive content of this page is captured in Edinburgh#Geography, perhaps a redirect and incorporating additional information to the primary page would be appropriate? Suriname0 (talk) 19:28, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
