Some text is verbally taken from John Lennox's personal home page. Has he authorized the use of his content? An example is the academic section further up (about his various stations) which is the same as the about section on his web site. 84.61.181.207 (talk) 23:30, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone check if this link is broken? I can't seem to get to it. The Dawkins-Lennox debate: http://www.dawkinslennoxdebate.com/. It's on YouTube, however: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRPSsKIOOoQ&feature=related (in 10 parts; this link goes to the first of the 10). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bill the Cat 7 (talkcontribs) 20:02, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. I checked it again today and it's working. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bill the Cat 7 (talkcontribs) 17:39, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can download the Hitchens/Lennox debate (in 3 .rar parts) here: http://atheistmovies.blogspot.com/2009/11/can-atheism-save-europe-christopher.html

I'm concerned, however, if it is legal to post this link on WP. Can someone please let me know? Thanks. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 05:50, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why would you be worried about legality? 98.198.83.12 (talk) 20:26, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you did there - because under atheism there is no objective right or wrong. There is only subjective right or wrong, so abusing a little child is no different from being Mother Teresa - it is just a matter of "taste". Nice one ;) 101.183.21.131 (talk) 08:49, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
in fact, abusing children IS NO DIFFRENT from being 'mother' theresa Public_image_of_Mother_Teresa#Quality_of_medical_care 78.57.221.177 (talk) 78.57.221.177 (talk) 20:54, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

where does John Lennox fellowship

[edit]

Definitely not with the Plymouth Brethren as popularly thought. Please see [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Another_berean

DPhil

[edit]
Lennox obtained an M.A. and DPhil. degree at the University of Cambridge.

No, he didn't. Cambridge doesn't award the DPhil. Can we have a source on this? Marnanel (talk) 05:50, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Religious Beliefs?

[edit]

I think Professor John Lennox is an avowed Christian, yet there is no mention of this on his page, and he recently contributed to 'The God Debate' at the Oxford Union at which he expressed his views in God and Judaeo-Christian beliefs TheBlackWhirlwind (talk) 16:37, 1 January 2013 (UTC) TheBlackWhirlwind.[reply]

What do you mean? In the opening paragraph it says "and a Christian apologist" 2001:8003:6A23:2C00:64D7:75A1:AB54:B3BE (talk) 08:45, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DOB?

[edit]

I realize that BLP's often omit a specific birthdate, but the year of birth is generally listed. Do we have no information on Lennox's age at all? Joefromrandb (talk) 08:56, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Career as mathematician

[edit]

If nothing else, surely Professor Lennox is a mathematician, and a distinguished one at that. His Wikipedia is consumed with his Christianity. Can something be added, somewhere, of his secular achievements? Please? The one informs the other, if only a little.

Agreed. The guy is obviously a genius and it would be good if something could be written of his secular achievements 101.183.21.131 (talk) 08:47, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree with you. Albeit Lennox is more popular for his apologetic works about science and religion, he has also a wide career as a mathematician, which is not mentioned in the article. I'll try to investigate more about it in order to edit the wiki page with the references needed when I have time.LiamTorres1017 (talk) 02:46, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree his maths career needs mentioning. However, I now feel the lede section has swung too far in the other direction. 99% of the article and all the sources are about his apologetics career. This is as it should be because that is what he is notable for. However, the lede is mostly about his maths career, giving the wrong impression of his notability. 85.149.13.48 (talk) 14:32, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
