Princess

[edit]

It's amusing that she was made a princess by a sultan (or deposed sultan, since he has no political or constitutional role in Indonesia), but shouldn't the status of this title be made clear? It seems roughly as significant as being made a princess by a Stuart pretender, or a Hohenzollern.Chignecto (talk) 20:08, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio?

Bust size

[edit]

I was amused to see that someone had picked up on the comment she made whilst crawling through a tight tunnel during the Ultimate Cavingprogramme – 'if you're larger than a 32D – forget it !'.

Nice try :-) John 11:36, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nudity

[edit]

I have removed a link to an interview about Humble being naked on a tv programme which is not particularly notable. Apart from being accused by the IP editor about any views I have on nudity (and can I remind him/her about WP:CIVIL) we already have a section in personal life (including a quote from her) that she enjoys nudity should be sufficient to cover the subject. MilborneOne (talk) 11:26, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't say that nudity was, as the IP editor contends, something that is "regularly flaunted" by her, but maybe it could deserve a mention in the section of the article covering her professional work? As it was done as a part of one of her programmes, and not part of her private life away from work, it could possibly be considered a seperate subject to what she does there, and so be notable in that respect in the same way as her appearing naked in her only true acting role (which isn't mentioned here at the moment...) and being rather embarrased when an interviewer mentioned it. It's definitely a difficult subject, and finding a happy compromise to the question of what is and isn't notable in this respect could be tricky... What is certain is that we need cool heads here, and not rush into things in the heat of the moment. I also think that the work-related section of the article needs a big re-work, as it reads more like a selection of isolated facts than a properly-written article. I dont have a problem with a mention of her professional (rather than the private which is already mentioned) nudity but as you suggest it should be done in balance with comment on the rest of her career. MilborneOne (talk) 14:47, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let us update this article: The Frankincense Trail

[edit]

It would be good if this article were updated, making reference to her current series on BBC Two, about frankincense called "The Frankincense Trail". This is an informative programme, and details how Kate Humble has travelled to parts of the middle east in search of frankincense, and has also mentioned herbs such as Egyptian rosemary, as it did on the edition broadcast tonight (September 10 2009). If you have a reliable source you can add the information yourself. MilborneOne (talk) 21:38, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Career: Spymaker

[edit]

I know IMDB indicates she was credited under the pseudonym of "Lauren Heston", but I consider that to be somewhat dubious and probably the product of an incorrect assumption by someone who hasn't watched the film properly. Yes, she has reddish hair, but there is a better candidate for that credit in the film. I've watched the TVM in its entirety (*) and there is an unnamed redheaded woman accompanying General Hellstein (Joss Ackland) to the casino whom he later beats up. Although she has no dialogue she has much more screen time and more obviously red hair and for whom it seems far more likely that the "redhead" credit was intended. There are no other unaccounted for credits so it is either Kate Humble or the Casino Girl for whom the "Redhead" credit belongs with the other inevitably being uncredited. It seems far more likely that the Casino Girl would have been credited out of the two given she has the larger of the two roles.

Kate Humble on the other hand is a fleeting bit part with barely one line of inconsequential cooing dialogue and so it seems more likely she is the uncredited one of the two "redheads". If Kate Humble had been given a character name a more apt one would have been something like "university principal's daughter" or suchlike. She is in one scene and never appears again. It is near the start and the scene serves to show how Ian Fleming (Jason Connery) was expelled from university after the principal caught him in bed with his (grown up) daughter.

So I submit that this information is wrong and Kate Humble was in fact uncredited in her role. Is my argument persuasive or is there other information I don’t know about (beyond IMDB) that proves she was credited as "Lauren Heston"?

(*) It was shown unedited on Freeview's True Entertainment channel late night in August 2013 (with Kate's scene intact) along with some edited daytime showings (sans Kate Humble). Know-seemore (talk) 08:09, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
