view · edit Frequently asked questions Q: Why are the Raimi and Webb Spider-Man films, and the X-Men and Fantastic Four films (from 2000–2019) not listed in this article? A: This article is for all the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which are films independently owned and produced by Marvel Studios. The Spider-Man films before the February 2015 agreement between Sony Pictures and Marvel are not part of the MCU. The rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises were controlled by 20th Century Fox until the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney was completed in March 2019. Any future film in either franchise will be added if they are reliably sourced to be existing in the MCU. Q: Why are some characters who have appeared (or will appear) in multiple films, like Phil Coulson, not included in the Recurring cast and characters table? A: The cast and characters included in this table are ones that have appeared or are scheduled to appear in multiple phases of the MCU and have appeared in the billing block for at least three films. For example, Nick Fury has appeared in Phases One through Three, and has been in the billing block more than thrice. The billing block is the text that appears at the bottom of the theatrical poster indicating the starring actors and actresses for such films, as seen by their inclusion in the infobox for each film. Thus, Phil Coulson, who has appeared in many films but only been in the billing block for two, is excluded. Deadpool & Wolverine *IS* an MCU film, in contrast to the first two Deadpool films, and is mentioned several times in this article... except in the actual list of films.  Not done: I'm not quite sure what you mean, but it may be helpful to refer to MOS:DL, which explains that we only link to an article once per section. That's why some of the movies, which are mentioned more than once in the opening section (or lead), are not linked the second/third/etc time they appear. Until a few days ago this was a Spider-Man section only, so suggesting that we are "trying to remove the X-Men franchise from this section" is disingenuous. Favre pointed out that the Spider-Man crossovers are noteworthy in that it is between studios, while the X-Men rights are all at Marvel now so crossovers there are not the same thing. - adamstom97 (talk) 22:24, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I stand by my revert reason: there's nothing to "cross-over" with since Marvel now has full control of the X-Men rights. They can do and reference whatever they want with them. With Sony/Spider-Man, it isn't that easy. The section's whole purpose is stemming from the first sentence in it about Feige's comments on the relationship between the MCU and SSU, and how the MCU navigates referencing Sony properties (and how Sony goes about trying to connect to the MCU). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:47, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The DP&W film credits states "In Association with Century Fox" because the X-Men rights still belongs to Fox. Marvel has the right to create new films with X-Men but, the existing film series ia property of Fox and Marvel does not owns Fox; Disney does.
