Sources needed for championship claims

[edit]

There are no sources that show he was British champion "a silly number of times" and the only source given for his world championships is his page at his school. These claims need independent sources. I'd say claims like being a 12 year old world champion also don't really show notability. Jakejr (talk) 03:23, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When nearly every other sources on his page says he is a multiple time british/world kickboxing champion, is there really any need to add addition sources to it? Pound4Pound (talk) 15:04, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell Michael Page is the only source for these claims since they're either from his school's web page or in local papers with no indication they've been fact checked. It might be more convincing if the actual championships (organizations and years) were given--especially when you're talking about winning them as a 12 year old. I've seen dozens of world martial arts championship claims that had no supporting evidence or turned out to be from local organizations. Also, numerous sports discussions (including martial arts) have always decided that junior championships do not show notability. Jakejr (talk) 21:12, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This might be because it is freestyle kickboxing, not K-1 type kickboxing, I know there are many videos on Youtube on the guy to show the style he fights in. I will add in the freestyle part into his main page to avoid further confusion. Pound4Pound (talk) 11:33, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Youtube videos hardly show notability. If he was an adult world champion it shouldn't be difficult to provide independent sources that say what organization he was champion of. You can also check the notability guidelines put out by the kickboxing task force (Wikipedia:WikiProject Martial arts/Kickboxing task force) or the martial arts project (WP:MANOTE). Your comment doesn't respond to any of my previous concerns. Jakejr (talk) 20:15, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well well well, I just found this thing as I was looking for kickboxing for Michael Page - W.A.K.O. World Championships 2007 (Coimbra)#Semi-Contact and also Men's Semi-Contact at WAKO World Championships 2007 Coimbra -89 kg. Proof that he has won a major title for a notable promotion in World Association of Kickboxing Organizations, in which he passes for kickboxing notability as well. I'm going to add this information onto his main page now. Pound4Pound (talk) 11:39, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've added this discussion back to the Talk page. It was removed by IP 112 in July 2015. As IP 112 was not the sole author of the comments, they shouldn't be removing them. Sionk (talk) 10:54, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Random trivia

[edit]

There is an anonymous user that keeps adding random trivia to this page. This does not seem relevant to a wiki page, and I would ask what the point of readding this is? Morohbj (talk) 11:55, 4 February 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Morohbj (talkcontribs) 11:53, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I completely agree it has been turned into a dreadful fan page with every minor scrap of trivia, often cited to instagram, twitter, YouTube feeds or minor fan websites. It will just attract trouble unless it's re-written and heavily pruned. Page is clearly notable, but this article does him a severe injustice. Sionk (talk) 22:53, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The person that keeps reverting changes and adding junk is yet to engage on the talk page. I have tried sending him/her a message, but no response. I can't see how this page can be kept in order unless a page protection request is made. Any other suggestions?Morohbj (talk) 06:35, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Page protection might be a good idea. The IP editor seems very controlling and continues to revert all changes. Sionk (talk) 10:58, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection?

[edit]

There seems to be fairly persistent anonymous editing on this page and reverts of sound edits without a reason. Overall, it seems as if this article's quality is being compromised by anonymous editors who do not follow standard procedure and/or revert to the talk page. NEDOCHAN (talk) 10:08, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It would help if you leave an edit summary when you revert someone's edits. Otherwise you don't have much of a superior argument over the other editor, who won't understand your reasoning. By the way, I agree the page has a lot of randomly cited trivia and evidently needs constant monitoring. Sionk (talk) 03:36, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I have, though. I have explained the edits in detail and attempted to discuss on here and on the anon user's page. It's a very simple point and I have explained it. The only time I have not is when my summarised edits are reverted. Have a look at the history...thanks by the way.

Undid revision 842283217 by 49.146.35.28 (talk)Passive voice makes sense- the video didn't draw any comparisons, comparisons were drawn based on the video. .(→‎Kickboxing career: Consistency re numbers (more than nine)) (→‎UCMMA: Clarity) Those are clear explanations for each of the reverts that were made.NEDOCHAN (talk) 09:14, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Who's the admin for this page?

[edit]

I'm pretty sure that I'm getting reverted by an anon SP. Who's the admin on this page, please? NEDOCHAN (talk) 14:52, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
