Nodder's middle name

[edit]

There was a Frederick Colmore Nodder, who lived in Ashover, Derbyshire, and married in Ashover Parish Church in November 1932. But that is not the murderer who had no middle name. Sam Blacketer (talk) 23:58, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Findmypast.co.uk? Reputable sources state otherwise. In having said that, the dispute as to Nodder's true age hearkened to in other sites incl. that in the external links leads me to stall regarding reinserting it. Wonder what others will think.--Kieronoldham (talk) 00:07, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Findmypast shows a baptism on 18 September 1887 of a Frederick Nodder (with no middle name) at the Cathedral Church of St Peter & St Paul in Sheffield (b. 21 August 1887). It shows the birth of a Frederick Nodder (with no middle name) in the Sheffield registration district in the third quarter of 1887 (volume 9C page 440). And it shows a death in the fourth quarter of 1937 in Lincoln registration district of a Frederick Nodder (with no middle name) who was aged 50. It also shows a Frederick Colmore Nodder born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire in the third quarter of 1892 and baptised at Ashover, Derbyshire. Frederick Colmore Nodder died in the first quarter of 1946 in Luton, Bedfordshire. I daresay the misreporting of the defendant Nodder's age as 45 is connected with the mistaken assumption that he was Frederick Colmore Nodder. See also http://www.chrishobbs.com/fredericknodder1937.htm and more especially http://www.chrishobbs.com/fredericknodder1887.htm. Sam Blacketer (talk) 00:24, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Good job, dude. Eminent in fact. ;) The sources hearken to the discrepancies in his true age in contemporary records. All I'm saying is the authors in books I both have and have read online are hardly unreputable. I mean.. how many Gladys Evelyn Cleggs will have had births registered in that era. Kudos and... enjoy your weekend.--Kieronoldham (talk) 00:28, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Distances

[edit]

It says the body was found in the river Idle near Bawtry which was 30 miles from where he was living. But it isn't 30 miles from Hayton to Bawtry - more like 8 (by road, less as crow flies). That cannot be correct. It is about 30 miles from Newark to Bawtry - is that what's meant? From her home, not from his? Also, the wiki link goes to somewhere in Shropshire. It would have been Newington in Doncaster. Though not sure where. The link is wrong.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.241.145.47 (talk) 09:53, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Well spotted. It's about 22 miles from Newark to Retford; approx 3.5 miles further to Hayton etc... I'll fix.--Kieronoldham (talk) 16:49, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
