Unsourced quote

[edit]

"It is written upon a wall in Rome; Ribchester was as rich as any town in Christendom". - seems to be unsourced. Is it also misplaced in the "Post-Roman" section? Martinevans123 (talk) 19:39, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks, "Trapped." So it was sourced back in 2007 and it's: "The parish of Ribchester", in A History of the County of Lancaster: Volume 7, ed. William Farrer and J Brownbill (London, 1912), pp. 36-44. British History Online [3]. And was attributed to "the people of Ribchester" by Camden in his Britannia (cd. 1695), 750? Not at all ancient or obscure then, haha. I'm just not used to seeing a quote hanging like that, in big quotes, without any explanation. I had started to think it might have been written on some back-alley in modern-day Rome, as part of some kind of hip art installation. Martinevans123 (talk) 08:28, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
