IQ?

[edit]

I removed this: "She has an IQ of 164, thus, was able to skip four grades in school." Any reliable source for this (not the IMDB)? Einstein had 148. Maybe a misheard "under sixty-four"? -- Harro 00:00, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • What would you consider reliable? Kristel doesn't appear to have a website, and a Google search reveals a number of webpages (not Wikimirrors) repeating the claim. The fact Einstein had 148 has actually been cited as an example of why the IQ system is faulty since for a man of his genius, that number is actually considered quite low ... so it is very possible Kristel might have scored higher than him. 23skidoo 22:12, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
      • Given the random, haphazard, essentially whim-based "standard" of credibility of Wikipedia, seems a bit pot/kettle to castigate IMDB. The poster below proclaims newspapers to be "reliable". Ever seen a newspaper account of an event you personally witnessed or have in-depth knowledge of? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.3.22.153 (talk) 17:21, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • I definitely don't consider the IMDB reliable, or other movie pages that probably copied from there. Newspapers or a sound biography would do. Strange, that a soft porn actress with such an IQ wouldn't receive more attention. Mensa members do have an IQ of about 130 or more (afaik), so 164 would still be extraordinary - unless her IQ test had been "faulty". -- Harro 23:46, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
      • It's not unheard of. Asia Carrera, a well-known hardcore movie actress, is a card-carrying member of Mensa and there have also been numerous Playboy playmates in there too. Jayne Mansfield, despite her bubble-headed image, apparently had a genius-level IQ as well. I don't discount everything listed in IMDb automatically as some people do, but I agree something like this could do with another citation. I'm surprised no one has done a fan page for her yet as she's something of a cult figure. 23skidoo 02:45, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Mensa "IQ requirement" varies from year to year, but it stays pretty level at 148 - 150 (on the standardized Cattell IQ test), on a Stanford-Binet IQ test the "requirements" are slightly lower, at roughly 132 - 134. Further, supermensa IQ (intelligence quotient) values do not tell you anything about a persons fitness for a particular purpose. I know of many Mensa members who aren't exactly high flyers in the social strata. One Mensa lady works as a clothes salesperson, another Mensa gentleman as a bank clerk. Further, above a certain level (again, depending on the test used) IQ values become redundant, obsolete. As a matter of fact, there is no way of determining the IQ values of superintelligent persons. However, never have I heard of someone being able to skip grades due to high IQ, given the capricious nature of IQ testing. If you want to ascertain whether ms Kristel is a Mensa member, you could opt for actually contacting them, instead of ranting and raving about percieved "reliability" and consipracies. The Mensa roster is not secret, y'know. If you do, please be sure to have the results released to the public. Otherwise it would be original research, as would thus be dismissable for use in the article. Oh, not to let an ego-boosting opportunity slip by; I have scored 156 (in other words, way above Einstein) on a non-Mensa Cattell test, thus I would probably be eligible for Mensa membership. If I would be so inclined. 128.214.133.2 (talk) 14:19, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

She is the daughter of a conductor and she had a Catholic upbringing

[edit]

This is in fact wrong, although her father was named John Kristel and there was a dutch John Kristel who was a conductor. Her father was a champion clay pigeon shooter and became deaf, the conductor John (born Joop Kristel) Kristel never had a child.

The picture in her late fifties does her a disservice

[edit]

Surely we can put a better one on guys, I mean such a breathtakingly beautiful woman, is there a reason to have such a badly shot and ugly picture on? 91.132.224.196 (talk) 23:33, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

-Most of Wikipedia is that way with celebrity pictures. See the one for Carrie Fisher! Nodekeeper (talk) 22:51, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hot Blood (1990)

[edit]

Why noone mentioned a movie called Hot Blood (1990)? She is not the main character, but nevertheless, it should be mentioned. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0140242/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.127.245.243 (talk) 12:05, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Parents' gender confused

'daughter of Piet and Jean-Nicholas' - both are male names. Who is the mother here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.131.68.77 (talk) 15:13, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I had to do some searching for it, but "Piet" is the mother. I guess it is short for Pieternella or Pietertje, now old fashioned female first names. The Banner talk 12:30, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
According to Digitaal Vrouwenlexicon van Nederland, Sylvia's mother's first name was Pietje. Part of the relevant entry is quoted below:

KRISTEL, Sylvia Maria (geb. Utrecht 28-9-1952 – gest. Amsterdam 17-10-2012), actrice. Dochter van John Nicolaas Kristel (1926-1990), hotelier, en Pietje Hendrika Lamme (1921-2000). .... (my bolding). Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 23:38, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse by father

[edit]

The article quotes says the accusation is made in Naakt/Nue. According to the Digitaal Vrouwenlexicon van Nederland the accusation was made in an interview with gutter-press journalist Henk van der Meyden shortly after the release of Emmanuelle. She formally retracted the accusation in 2001 in an interview published by the quality journal HP/De Tijd. The statement is not supported by any Wikipedia pages in other languages. Unless a specific page reference to Nue/Naakt can be provided I think the statement should be deleted or reformulated. Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 00:01, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
