Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples[edit]

Option 1[edit]

Article title
Federal Indian Policy
Article Evaluation
  • Many claims do not have citations
  • Sections are mostly just overviews of time periods and contain little specific information; "Westward expansion and Indian relocation," "Allotment and assimilation era (1887–1943)," and "Termination and relocation (1945–1960)" sections would be good options to expand and verify.
  • Some adjustments could be made for more neutral language
  • Essentially no activity on Talk page, doesn't seem to be an actively edited article
  • More references to specific federal policy and actions could be helpful

Option 2[edit]

Article title
Native American peoples of Oregon
Article Evaluation
  • Possible suggestion: name change to "indigenous peoples of Oregon"??
  • Some proposed subsections are entirely missing information - see "Pre-Columbian period," "Dispossession and the reservation system," and "Native Americans in contemporary Oregon"
  • References section kind of has a wonky setup - footnotes and works cited instead of all in one.
  • Population section also has a strange setup, with the table under "see also" and a list of links to all of the Wiki pages for the tribes listed.
  • Updated/clearer maps could be very helpful
  • Would adding the missing sections and working on reformatting information be enough for this assignment?
  • Existing sections are told mostly from a rather racist white-settler perspective, the reason for which is explained under the Explorers subsection...could that explanation go in the intro to the History section? Also, is all the info from that perspective necessary? I feel like it doesn't give the most accurate representation of Native peoples, especially since it makes up the bulk of the information present. Could the history section be restructured to make more of an information balance?
  • The lead section is very good, however.
  • Could use a section on current-day relations between existing indig. nations and the state of Oregon

Option 3[edit]

Article title
Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs
Article Evaluation
  • Article has subsections, but is completely missing information, for the history/culture/etc. of the tribes making up the confederation.
  • Article is labeled as needing additional citations
  • No information about current state of the confederation
  • No maps
  • Grammar is interesting in some places, could use revision

Sources

- Good citations and grammar
