Norman Sankofa is a fictional character from the British soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Jamie Luke. The character debuted on-screen during the episode broadcast on 5 September 2001. Luke made his finale appearance as Norman during the episode broadcast on 25 August 2004.
Development
[edit]He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 5 September 2002.[1]
A writer from the official Hollyoaks website described Norman as "Cheeky but likeable". Despite being "interested in the ladies", writers did not create any relationship storylines for Norman during his first year in the series.[2] Norman is introduced as the brother of Theo Sankofa (Andrew Somerville) and is a student studying for his GCSE exams at Hollyoaks Comprehensive School.[2]
Norman later becomes a lodger in Jack Osborne's (Jimmy McKenna) home above the Dog in the Pond pub. Writers soon reintroduced the character, Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson), who had been absent from the series.[3] Darren moves back into his old home but has to share a room with Norman. Dawson told Joanne Tebbutt All About Soap that "Darren hates sharing a room with Norman" and views his presence as preventing him from gaining Jack's full attention. Dawson believed that Darren "resents" Norman and "decides to make life difficult for him".[3] He added that as the feud develops, Darren deceives his friends Max Cunningham (Matt Littler) and OB (Darren Jeffries) about Norman's behaviour. Darren pretends "he's trying to get on with Norman" and blames him for being "awkward".[3]
Luke made his final appearance as Norman during the episode broadcast on 25 August 2004.[4]
