Solving Cases is the 9th studio album by New Jersey rapper El Da Sensei, produced by American record producer, engineer & rapper Jake Palumbo. It was released on September 24th, 2021 under SpaceLAB Recordings / Soulspazm Records.

Guest appearances include Wordsworth, Sadat X, Ruste Juxx, Shabaam Sahdeeq, & more.

Background

El Da Sensei & Jake Palumbo began collaborating in 2014 when Jake Palumbo was brought in to be the mixing engineer on El Da Sensei's "XL" collaborative album with Brand Nubian member Sadat X^[1]. This formed a musical partnership between El Da Sensei & Jake Palumbo, with their first collaboration being the song "Gravy Like Gumbo" on Jake Palumbo's 2017 Jake It Till You Make It album^[2].

Music videos were released for the singles "Blast Off!!!^[3]", "Bring It In Loud^[4]" & "Rule & Rock."

Reception

Reviews of the album were largely positive, with RapReviews.com critic Sy Shackleford saying "With 'Solving Cases', El da Sensei and Jake Palumbo made some good headway in investigating hip-hop puzzles" while rating the album an 8.5 out of 10^[5]. SpitFireHipHop.com was quoted as saying "...El Da Sensei turns in a lyrical performance that reminds listeners why he hasn’t fallen off once in 25+ years, sounding enthusiastically refreshed on the mic."^[6] RawSideHipHop.com critic Brutus Maximus wrote "Jake Palumbo and El Da Sensei have really found a unique yet really authentic pairing with ‘Solving Cases‘. The razor sharp and crystal clear production style of Palumbo sets the table for the enigmatic, captivating and engaging flow that El brings when in the boot"^[7]
