From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello, I've noticed you added a {{watermark}} tag to the cover art picture Image:FEAR DVD box art.jpg for F.E.A.R.. I checked the picture's watermark and it seems to contain only this info: "LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01" which refers to the software used for editing rather than any copyright notice. Does the tag suggestion to switch to a different non-watermaked version still apply? Wikipedia already has the "non Director's Cut" edition of F.E.A.R.'s cover art (Image:FEAR box art.png). Would you advise to switch back to that picture? Thanks in advance for your help. Berserker79 08:33, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for clearing what the real problem is. I'm sorry about the confusion, but I thought the tag referred to some kind of "digital watermarking". I'll try to see if I can find source info for Image:FEAR box art.png or replace it with an identical picture whose source is known (I currently can't check the one you suggested since I'm behind a firewalled pc, but will do ASAP).
BTW, if MobyGames is clearly cited as the source site would this solve the issue? Thank you. Berserker79 15:32, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the additional explanation. I'll replace the picture as soon as I find a non-watermaked picture with known source. Thank you for your help. Berserker79 10:28, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Reality check

[edit]

Hey, can you come over to Talk:Deus Ex#GA review and give me a reality check on this? It seems to me that I'm making a convincing argument that's falling on deaf ears, but I've felt like that before and realized afterward that I was batshit insane. Image:SilentHunterIIIbox.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SilentHunterIIIbox.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Iamunknown 07:45, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Ridley corpse in Metroid Fusion.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ridley corpse in Metroid Fusion.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:49, 22 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:49, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

After navigating through wiki, I finally found the right person to ask. I think this goes along with Crimsonfox's request. I'm working on Radiata Stories which was also listed as the top 50 games of 2005 and had a character in the top 10 heroes list (#6 to be exact). The exact issue is January 2006 (the black and white one with Sam from Splinter Cell on it). Could you provide the necessary refs for me too? Thanks. Chevinki 01:24, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Chevinki 22:12, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

I uploaded the image, but it said it was previously deleted by you. Why so? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lightblade (talkcontribs) 07:55, 4 April 2007 (UTC).

Nah, I'm not big on the social networking sites. Wiki is pretty much good enough for me! Thunderbrand 01:45, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
