Welcome![edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first pages you edited was Ginny Favede ‎, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that page.

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

If you've had a new article rejected or deleted, new article creation can be difficult, but the Article Wizard can help you. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems. You can also ask for help at the TEAHOUSE and on IRC chatAgain, welcome! -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:50, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

August 2022[edit]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, GFavede, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username.

If you choose to keep your current username, please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org including your real name and your Wikipedia username to receive instructions from our volunteer response team about account verification. Please do not send documentation without being requested to do so.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our username policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you wish for your existing contributions to carry over under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" from their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a change of name request.
  3. Your requested new username cannot already be in use. Therefore, please check the list here to see if a name is taken prior to requesting a change of name.
Appeals: If, after reading the guide to appealing blocks you believe you were blocked in error, then you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:50, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Deepfriedokra. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Ginny Favede, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:51, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

GFavede Wikipedia strongly discourages editing articles in which you have a conflict of interest. Please do not edit your biography but, if you see something that needs changing, use the Edit Request Wizard to request that the edit is made on your behalf. - Cabayi (talk) 15:24, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain pages (Ginny Favede) for self promotion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text at the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cabayi (talk) 12:00, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I was not attempting "self promotion. I was trying to provide real context. Everything that was posted has been published at some point in time in a paper or website.I did not know it had to be linked to a published sight and don't know how to do that. I added my photo as I thought the page should have a photo. Every living person biography I have seen has a photo. The photo I added has also been published. I ask kindly that you please unblock me and direct me as to how I can add accurate and factual information to this page. I did not even know the page existed until yesterday. Your help would be appreciated GFavede (talk) 21:20, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You are only blocked from the biography, which you should not be editing anyway. Instead propose edit requests on the talk page. PhilKnight (talk) 12:40, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Have you read the autobiography policy? 331dot (talk) 21:46, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The block only prevents you from editing your biography directly which is something you ought not to be doing anyway. As I advised last week, " if you see something that needs changing, use the Edit Request Wizard to request that the edit is made on your behalf."
You declared the photo was your own work. It isn't - it's a studio portrait. You may have bought the copyright, but that's not what you asserted. If you wish to release or license the copyright you can find a sample release email at c:Commons:Email templates. There's further info on your user talk page on WikiCommons.
Wikipedia allows its content to be freely copied and reused. As a result, we cannot allow text or photos to be posted which are copied from elsewhere on the internet and not given their due attribution. The text needs to be supported by reliable, verifiable, independent sources. Cabayi (talk) 08:11, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I have emailed the link above (Commons:Email templates) to the professional photographer. I do own the copyright which is why I indicated it was my own. Please note, I am not attempting to do anything wrong as I am confident I am not the only person who has struggled to comprehend how to accurately address a Wikipedia page. I had not read the autobiography page and have done so now. I will submit edit requests to (Edit Request Wizard) in the future. I do need clarification as to whether or not the university whom I work for has a right to edit the page? GFavede (talk) 17:09, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The English Wikipedia does not permit shared or corporate accounts so "the university" is a no. An individual at the university can sign up for their own account but the WMF's terms of use require them to declare their paid conflict of interest (WP:PAID). They too would need to request edits to your biography and the article about the university. Cabayi (talk) 20:58, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
