Wikipedia has extremely strong sanctions around cryptocurrency-related articles, because the area was and still is such a firehose of spam.

As such, I must strongly suggest you never edit directly on articles you have a conflict of interest on, such as ShapeShift. Suggestions on the talk page are generally fine.

CoinDesk has been found Generally Unreliable in broad general Requests For Comment - see WP:RSP#CoinDesk. CoinTelegraph literally has a presentation giving its pay-for-play rates, with marking the article as advertorial being optional for the buyer.

Cryptocurrency sources are generally considered not reliable for Wikipedia use. We have substantial coverage of the field in mainstream sources; these should be used by preference.

We have an essay (not an official guideline, but a description of general practice) at Wikipedia:Notability (cryptocurrencies) that may be helpful.

Please be advised we are using only very high quality sources on cryptocurrency articles, such as wsj, nyt, fortune, & bloomberg. We are not using blogs, forbes contributor articles, and any of the crypto-zines (such as coindesk, theblock, etc). Thanks! Jtbobwaysf (talk) 04:50, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
