The Walsh Cavaliers are the athletic teams that represent Walsh University, located in North Canton, Ohio, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sporting competitions. The Cavaliers compete as members of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference for 21 of their current 22 varsity sports. Two sports were added in the 2023–24 school year—the all-female cheerleading discipline of stunt, which the G-MAC first sponsored in 2022–23, and sprint football, a weight-restricted form of American football governed outside of the NCAA.[1]

Varsity teams

[edit]

List of teams

[edit]
  1. ^ A variant of American football not governed by the NCAA, with player weights restricted to 178 pounds (81 kg). The team plays in the Midwest Sprint Football League.
  2. ^ An all-female cheerleading discipline that became part of the NCAA Emerging Sports for Women program in 2023.

Facilities

[edit]

The university's football team used to play their home games at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, however they now play their home games on campus at Larry Staut Field.

Championships

[edit]
  • The men's basketball team won the 2005 NAIA National Championship.[2]
  • The women's basketball team won the 1998 NAIA National Championship.[3]
  • The men's baseball team advanced to the 2007 NAIA World Series for the first time in school history.[4]
