OriginalL'Absinthe, an 1876 oil painting on canvas by Edgar Degas. It depicts two people drinking some absinthe in a cafe in Paris. The work is now in the permanent collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
Reason
Banned in the US! Booed off the stage! Degas' daring take on the increased social isolation faced by the French in a time of rapid development.
