Has Sania Mirza found love again after divorce from Shoaib Malik? Tennis champion spills the beans

Has love come knocking again at Sania Mirza’s door? The tennis sensation, who obtained a divorce from Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, recently opened up on whether she found a special someone after her painful separation.

The tennis star, who recently appeared in the ‘Great Indian Kapil Show’ was quizzed by host Kapil Sharma on her love life. The comedian reminded Mirza that superstar Shah Rukh Khan had offered to play her love interest if her biopic was ever adapted for the big screen, to which she demurely replied that she is yet to find a love interest herself. Her cheeky reply left Sharma and Archana Puran Singh in splits! Mirza was a guest at the show along with fellow sports women Mary Kom and Saina Nehwal.

For the unversed, in 2016, Shah Rukh Khan unveiled Sania's memoir, titled ‘Ace Against Odds,’ expressing his willingness not only to produce a film based on the book but also to take on a role in it. “Whenever there is a movie made on Sania, I think it will be very inspiring and it will be fantastic. And I don’t know… ask her if she will let me play her love interest. But, I will produce it for sure,” he told NDTV.

Mirza and Malik who represented one of the most prominent cross-border love stories, shocked fans by announcing their divorce in January this year. At the beginning of 2024, the former cricketer created a furour on the Internet by dropping pictures of his nikah (wedding) with Pakistani actress Sana Javed on Instagram and X. “Alhamdulillah... And We created you in pairs.,” he wrote. Malik was lambasted both by Indian and Pakistani netizens for alleged marital infidelity.

Later, Mirza’s father Imran told PTI, that she had obtained a khula (Islamic separation) from Malik.

In 2010, Sania and Shoaib tied the knot in Hyderabad, followed by their Walima ceremony in Sialkot, Pakistan. They have a six-year-old son named Izhaan Mirza Malik.
