What is Transformers Wiki?

Transformers Wiki is a Transformers knowledge-base written and maintained collaboratively by many of its readers. The Wiki is constantly being updated to include the most up-to-date (non-leaked) information. Since changes are recorded in the history of each page, vandalism is usually removed quickly.

What will I find here?

Transformers Wiki is a repository of knowledge. Here you will find descriptions and articles relating to all things Transformers. However, it is not a collection of toy reviews -- instead it contains facts, mostly about the fictional Transformers universes and the characters within them. It covers TV series, comic books, toys, real-life people, objects, technology, planets, the Transformers fandom and anything else that has any connection to Transformers.

How can I help?

Before you can make any changes to the wiki, you must be signed in as a registered wiki user. You can register and sign in by clicking the "create account and log in" link at the top of any page on the wiki.

Once you're logged in, feel free to edit any page. Links that are red point to pages that don't exist yet. You can click those links to create the missing page. If you know something that isn't in the Wiki, add it! Someone got the facts wrong? Change them! Bad spelling or grammar? Fix it! Don't worry about "breaking" the Wiki, it can always be changed back to the way it was, so go nuts!

If you are going to make a major change or delete something that somebody else wrote, you might want to bring up the idea on the article's Talk page first -- click the tab that says "discussion" at the top of the article, and then edit that page. But for most edits, we'd prefer that you go ahead and add the new information to the appropriate page yourself. Go ahead, be bold!

How do I start a new article?

There are several ways! If you want to create an article which somebody has already written a red link to, simply click that link and you will be taken to a page where you can create the article. If there is no link to the page yet, you can edit an existing article to put a link in, and then follow that link. You can also type the name of the article you want to create into the "search" box and you will then be given the option of creating the page.

How do I upload an image?

To upload an image, you should see an "Upload file" link in the toolbox on the left sidebar. Click that link and follow the prompts to upload your image.

I think I've found some defacement on the wiki. What can I do?

Defacement comes with the territory on every wiki site. Happily, it's quite easy to fix. The wiki keeps track of every revision to each article, making it very easy to roll back to a previous version.

  • If you're not a sysop: Simply click "history" at the top of the page you wish to roll back. Then click on the time and date of the archived version you want to revert back to. The page will appear with the version indicated at the top of the page, just underneath the page title. Next, click "edit" at the top of the page. Add a note in the Summary box that you are reverting the page because of a troll, and then click "Save page".
  • If you're a sysop: Simply click "history" at the top of the page you wish to roll back. Position the radio buttons at the current version and the version you want to roll back to, then click "Compare selected versions". Next, click the "rollback" link near the upper right side of the page (directly to the right of the most recent author's name).

However, be a little careful -- comments or jokes that would be considered vandalism (or at the very least inappropriate) on some wikis, such as Wikipedia, are not necessarily inappropriate here. Make sure you read a bunch of our articles to get a feel for how we do things before you begin removing jokes. You wouldn't want to get rid of one that a lot of people liked! As long as a joke doesn't get in the way of providing accurate information, it is usually okay here.

For more information on our policies regarding humor, see this page.

How do I delete an article or image?

Only sysops can delete articles and images, but there's an easy way for you to alert the sysops to pages you think should be deleted. Simply edit the article and add {{tobedeleted}} to the top. If you've done it right, you should see a box similar to this one at the top of the page:

The code also adds the article to a special "To be deleted" category. The sysops check this category regularly and will delete articles and images they agree should be deleted.

I need more help! I don't know what I'm doing!

Okay! You can reach our Help area by clicking the "Help" link in the in the left sidebar of any page. There's a bunch of information there to help you get started!
