The Hague: In an unexpected event that left viewers pleasantly surprised, the ex-prime minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte left his former office in The Hague on a bicycle after handing over power to his successor Dick Schoof.
The video of the former PM, who spent 14 years in office, riding off on a bicycle went viral on social media.
Last year, Mark Rutte became the first leader in the world to ride a self-driving car. During his visit to the United States, the Dutch PM and his team tested an autonomous vehicle.
Rutte, who came to power in 2010, is the Netherland's longest serving Prime Minister. Last year, he had announced that he will not be running for a fifth term in office, and resigned after his coalition government failed to achieve a consensus over migration.

Who Is Dick Schoof, The New Prime Minister Of The Netherlands?

67-year-old Dick Shoof, who was the former intelligence chief and counterterrorism head, was sworn in on Tuesday. He was nominated to lead the new government by Geert Wilders' nationalist Party for Freedom (PVV) and three other parties in the coalition. Schoof's election marked a significant right-wing shift in the politics of the Netherlands.
Schoof's coalition announced the "strictest-ever asylum regime", with measures such as enhanced border controls and stricter rules for asylum seekers.
