Thank you for the article, enriching the Main page! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:29, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And thank you for reviewing it and helping to bring it to the Main page! Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 22:03, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you today for Cross Temple, Fangshan, "about the only surviving site of the Church of the East in China. I think I have exhausted the research material I can find to ensure it is comprehensive and well-researched, and I am pretty sure the images involved are in the public domain, either because they are user contributions from the Commons, or because they were published before 1928."! I missed the FAC. - My story today is a 2019 hook, about a concert I heard and you can watch, and if you look at my talk today, there's a similar concert this year that you can watch, and both feature different people, but the same composer: Antonín Dvořák. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:49, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Much appreciated, Gerda! I love Dvořák a lot. I'll certainly listen to his Stabat Mater later today. And no worries for missing the FAC-- I hope I can make another FAC next year. It's a hard process, as you surely know. Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 13:09, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I know, surely, have a FAC open which will probably best archived and then I can turn to the next ;) I'm in the process of making Alexander Goehr's article decent enough for the Main page which is hard enough, - third day today, - at least we have an obit now. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:17, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Saint's Star Award for hard work and diligence on the Christianity WikiProject

For your exceptional work on Cross Temple, Fangshan, I award you this barnstar! ~ Pbritti (talk) 23:07, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you–and I hope you emerged unscathed from the land of John Knox! Never knew that this star existed, reminds me of the lines...
O then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do.
They pray: grant thou, lest faith turn to despair.

Greg Landsberg is hardly notable

[edit]

With an h-factor of 10 (!) https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Ynoa7w0AAAAJ&hl=en he does not come close to passing Wikipedia:Notability (academics). Was there a reason you passed him? Ldm1954 (talk) 18:11, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ldm1954 Thanks for double checking! I passed him because it's a case of WP:NACADEMIC named chair professorship. Also, in particle physics, a lot of publications are in the form of group publications (CMS, ATLAS, ALICE, etc.), in which case the paper only bears the name of the group and not the individual. On InspireHEP, it shows that Landsberg has an h-index above 200, taking into account of other collaborations. Hope this helps! Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 18:18, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but you misread the point about chaired profs -- this has been discussed on Wikipedia talk:Notability (academics). It has to be more than a standard chair, i.e. something like a Trustees chair; from http://advancement.brown.edu/lib/Faculty_Support_January_2008 it is not clear that Brown does these. The collaborations might do it, but then others devalue HEP. Without independent verification from prizes such as APS Fellow or higher he is very marginal. I would have declined it and asked the author to strengthen the case with awards if they exist, otherwise wait.
Don't be surprised if there is an AfD from NPP (by one of many). Ldm1954 (talk) 18:47, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

September music

Today is Schoenberg's 150th birthday! On display his portrait by Egon Schiele, music from Moses und Aron, and two DYK hooks, one from 2010 and another from 2014; the latter, about his 40th birthday, appeared on his 140th birthday ;) - See places for a stunning sunrise, on the day Bruckner's 200th birthday was celebrated (just a few days late). -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:06, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How kind of you! Bruckner's 8th Symphony has a tender place in my heart. Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 22:03, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for sharing that! - Ach, lieben Christen, seid getrost, BWV 114, written for today, is one of the pieces in my topic of this year. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:06, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My story today features a pic I took from my position in the choir, I can also offer varied delightful music, some from Venice, also with pics I took, - note the rose in the clarinet ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:56, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
