Spectacle is a digital signage system that uses Drupal as its administrative back-end and Meteor as its front-end.
Why Drupal?
So why didn't we write our own CMS in Meteor and keep everything all built in Meteor? That sounds like it makes more sense than trying to connect two completely different frameworks together.
To us, it made more sense to utilize a CMS that is supported by a great community that works hard to make sure that things are done well, and that all core functionality is supported in Drupal core. We are also very comfortable with Drupal already, so getting it connected with Meteor is going to be the only custom work.
Why Meteor?
One of the main reasons we are using Meteor as our front-end is because of the live updating of content/code without any page refresh. This way, any displays that have been changed are not going to need to be further maintained. You just change the content and it changes on the client automatically.
