Discussion

[edit]

Is there a policy for translating pages on meta? Should they go to a language Wikipedia or be kept on meta, make it both and try to deal with duplication? This article being interesting for me personally, and as far as I know meta has much lower traffic from Poland than pl.wikipedia. Matusz 15:28, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Duplication is a bad thing, so they should be in one place, and have a link from the other place. You could put translations on Meta, as was done with pages like the logo voting, but there is the disadvantage that the interface of Meta is in English, so it may be best to put the translation on another language's Wikipedia. Angela 21:09, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)

This article is extremely bloated. At 82 items, most of them will never be read, and it is unlikely that genuinely useful suggestions will be read amidst the other more questionable advice (e.g. "Stop being such a Wikinazi, just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they are wrong"). I thought this is a page about people who have appointed themselves Wiki-mistress = Wikistress. --Menchi 00:57, 18 Nov 2003 (UTC)

I removed Item #34: Find every page that redirects to en:New York, New York and fix every link to these. Still stressed? Decide that en:New York City would be a better title. Move the page and fix every link. Repeat above steps on all other Wikipedias. -- it seemed a little weird to be here after all the recent conflict about which title the en: article should be under. -- BCorr|Брайен 01:35, 26 May 2004 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia has it easy in terms of Wikistress.

Wikistress Templates

[edit]

I just made some userbox templates (or finished rather) that describe wikistress, you might want to add them onto the page. {{User WS-S}} {{User WS-H}} {{User WS-E}} {{User WS-G}} {{User WS-L}}

I have wikistress

[edit]

What do you think about this: wikipedia:pt: has articles like wikipedia:pt:Lista de nomes populares para o ânus (List of popular names for the anus), with several extreme pejorative terms, and its sysops agree with having this kind of page. -- 23:27, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

There's no way to build an opinion of the pages you mention, as both links are nonexistent. --AVM 15:05, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sometimes you can get stressed arguing about something where you're obviously right, but other people are defending a stupid idea. This is just bad luck. Ignore that page for a year or two and then try again. (And by ignoring that page for a year, you might decide that it's not that important and you can let someone else eventually solve it.) MP3s and dancing

[edit]

Either close WP and listen to MP3s, or listen to them and dance. It's the best thing to loosen up a bad mood. 219.90.207.23 01:10, 17 August 2007 (UTC) (User:Timeshift9)Reply

Tautological Definition

[edit]

What a novel way of approaching definition; defining the phrase by restating the phrase.

For example: Wikistress i.e. Wikipediastress is stress caused by Wikipedia

Here's a few more we could make:

  • Tire - A tire shaped object
  • United States of America - A collection of states in America
  • Tranquilizer Dart - A dart that delivers a tranquilizer

I hope that we can continue spread ambiguity throughout all of Wikipedia!

172.130.92.220 05:45, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Computer user - a person which uses a computer.
  • Square - NOT circle.
  • War and Peace - a result of the work of a billion of monkeys armed with typewriters.

(sorry, this was added for the sake of sheer lulz) -- HTMLCODER.exe 21:18, 4 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Feedback

[edit]

The page needs organization. The different ideas should be grouped into sections. The thought put into this benefits the reader.TCO 08:41, 5 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Remove "don't take yourself too seriously!" and others

[edit]

This means nothing and no one can judge how seriously they're taking themselves or what yardstick they should use to tell if it's excessive. There are good suggestions in that list, so it's better to remove empty filler and get straight to the suggestions that people put their names to.

I thought of also deleting "Play Half Life 3", because it's just an ad for some commercial software, but I'll leave that to someone else who feels like trimming the list.

For duplicate entries and entries that look like ads (even if that wasn't the intent), I suggest trimming the page by moving them here. That will keep the page more readable. Gronky (talk) 02:00, 10 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
