The Pop & Win! minigame in the World Maker mode of Super Mario Maker 2.

Pop & Win! is a minigame in the World Maker mode in Super Mario Maker 2. It can be played by placing a green Toad House with a Power Balloon pump on its roof and entering the Toad House on the world map.

Gameplay[edit]

In this minigame, the player must repeatedly press A Button quickly to inflate a large balloon resembling a green Toad House. From its initial state, the balloon grows to four different sizes, each with its own sprite. At its largest size, the balloon grows slightly each time the player presses A Button, and the balloon pops shortly afterwards, revealing either one, three, or five 1-Up Mushrooms with Wings, which each award the player an extra life. If the player earns five extra lives, Mr. Eraser, Partrick, Soundfrog, or Undodog also appears from the balloon when it is popped. Notably, the balloon must be popped in order to proceed, which guarantees that the player will receive at least one life regardless of their performance, unlike in the other two minigames from Toad Houses, Catch & Win! and Match & Win!

Music[edit]

The music that plays during the minigame is an SNES-styled arrangement of the theme played by Famicom Disk Writer kiosks when writing new games to the Famicom Disk System. This is also the source of the sound effects that play when the player inflates the balloon in the minigame.[1][2]
