File format

[edit]

What container format is used for ProRes? QuickTime only, or anything else (e.g. MXF)?

Most of the time Quicktime (.mov) is used as a container, though some cameras can record to ProRes 444 in a MXF-Container. I don't know of any other. MoryVanderbuilt (talk) 15:06, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Open source projects

[edit]

Shouldn't it be mentioned, that one of the key aspects of the ProRes codec is its reliability and consistency in keeping the image integrity when delivering a master or as an intermediate between workflows, and that those Open source experiments do not provide the same reliability & quality? There have been many reported image issues and artifacts. They are also not licensed by Apple and thus exist in a legal grey area.[1] MoryVanderbuilt (talk) 15:11, 5 July 2018 (UTC) MoryVanderbuilt (talk) 15:33, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
