Desalinization Plant - Planta desalinizadora

[edit]

hi,

the Spanish description of "Planta desalinizadora" is "... potabilizar ...". That is not 100% correct. Some plants don't produce "agua potable" but "agua de uso industrial".

I don't want to change the description before we agree or better other user that has a more sinoptical view of the situation. Best regards, Juan Villalobos (talk) 09:32, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Juan Villalobos! This page is for discussing technical issues. For content-related discussions, please use Wikidata:Café (es) or Wikidata:Project chat (en). Issues with adding statements to a new property

[edit]

I created the property denomination (P12949) (proposal) at 10:46 and I've only successfully been able to add 2 statements to it so far, receiving frequent 500 errors and timeouts when attempting editing. I appear to be able to edit other properties and items with no problem.

If you report this error to the Wikimedia System Administrators, please include the details below.

It seems the problem has disappeared somehow, as it is visitable now. ScienceD90 (talk) 19:38, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's happened several times with me, and all the times when I added one "Wikidata property example"! It takes 3-8 hours to back in normal, therefore we must find the root cause. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 21:42, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for reporting this issue, and apologies for the late response. @Lewis Hulbert and @ZI Jony: Could you clarify a few things?
  1. Does the timeout occur specifically when you click "Save" after creating a statement?
  2. Is this issue limited to new properties, or are you also experiencing it with existing ones?
It’s possible that this might be related to recent outages we've experienced. You can always check the operational status of our systems here: https://www.wikimediastatus.net/. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 09:16, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE), thank you for responding the message. For myself, when I add the first "Wikidata property example" and save it works fine, when I try to add the second "Wikidata property example" the property information disappears, and couldn't do anything in that property for few hours. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 22:04, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The same goes for me - it happened upon adding the first property example and then attempting to add the second example - after which I was unable to view the property's page at all without receiving the error I posted above. A few hours later I managed to make a second edit before the same symptoms arose again and this time I wasn't able to make any edits for a much longer period of time. I'm not sure how long exactly, because I'd gone to sleep and then tried it the next day. --Lewis Hulbert (talk) 12:21, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Happening yet again with game designer (P12969), problem was again only encountered after adding a Wikidata property example (P1855) statement. Could be related that both problematic properties were item data type, while I've created numerous external identifiers with no problem. --Lewis Hulbert (talk) 23:13, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks all for providing these details. We'll look into it: phab:T374230. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 12:24, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Arabic numbers

[edit]

Hello everyone, I would like to know where the problem of Arabic numbers lies in Wikidata? Because when converting to Arabic, the numbers change to Indian numbers and this I do not find it with the Egyptian language! Mohammed Qays (talk) 14:52, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Mohammed Qays, thanks for bringing this issue to our attention! It seems to be related to T338115, which we're already tracking. With the upcoming fix, all numerals will be fully localized based on the UI language. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 08:54, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for sharing that discussion. Let's continue the conversation on that page to keep everything organized and in one place. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 08:09, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DAHR artist ID identifier linking issue

[edit]

Hello,

I am having trouble with the DAHR artist ID identifier. Page: Q130224997 for Pete Wade. The DAHR I tried to enter isn't meshing with the way the identifier exists because the automatic fill of the prefix URL to the name isn't the same as the URL where he's located in their database. The autofill (the one Wikidata puts in when you use the identifier, just in case my terminology is a bit off) goes to https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/names/ but the prefix URL for the correct location in their database is https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/mastertalent/detail/.

So I entered the correct URL under references (it's https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/mastertalent/detail/210686/Wade_Pete). Is there a way to correct this so that the authority control template doesn't show an error on the en wiki page? OIM20 (talk) 19:36, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nvm. I found the answer here - use the number, not the name. :) OIM20 (talk) 20:34, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I noticed that the Bluesky DID links being generated are broken because the : is being percent-encoded in the URL. If you look at the link for Jay Graber, for instance, it goes to https://bsky.app/profile/did%3Aplc%3Aoky5czdrnfjpqslsw2a5iclo which gives an Error: handle must be a valid handle message. The correct link is: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:oky5czdrnfjpqslsw2a5iclo. —Paul1337 (talk) 23:49, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Paul1337:  Resolved. See Special:Diff/2243057416. This is being handled by the Wikidata External ID redirector (Q108047563) (example), but you'll have to wait a little while (~ 24-48 hours) for the new formatter URL to take effect. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 00:50, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much @Kirilloparma :) —Paul1337 (talk) 02:14, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
