Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Frequent vandalism by multiple IPs. The-Pope (talk) 07:44, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 5 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. KTC (talk) 08:35, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes or semi-protection: This page gets a lot of views, and attracts its share of vandalism from anonymous editors. Recent examples:

    The February 3rd change didn't get fixed until the 16th: [14]. —rybec 06:36, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Psy (entertainer) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Permanent Semi-protection: Widespread vandalism and inappropriate edits by non-autoconfirmed users, especially after protection expired in February. A1candidate (talk) 06:21, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fifty Shades of Grey (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Permanent semi-protection: This page is currently un-protected and while the trolls have yet to realize this and pour in, I'll point out that it's only a matter of time until they do. This page is a vandalism magnet and a look at the page's history over time shows this, as in the case last August where someone repeatedly blanked sections of the article, prompting the previous protection. It might be early yet and I'm sure that people will say that I should wait for the trolls to come in and start destroying the article, but I think that it would be best to just give this page permanent semi-protection against IP vandalism. Each time the page gets unprotected it inevitably gets vandalized once people realize that it's unprotected. Even with the protection the page still had its fair share of vandalism, so this will just prevent it from getting worse.Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:04, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pending-changes protected for a period of 6 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Lectonar (talk) 08:17, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    • I'd tend to agree that a reduction to semi-protection would be appropriate. I've dropped the protecting admin a note, and will give them time to provide input before changing the level of protection myself. Note that PC2 is effectively unavailable based on community consensus. Monty845 00:30, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • I was the creator of the template, and protected it. Lions Gate Entertainment (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection: King Shadeed is reverting sourced information again as with other articles that I have request page protection for. Spshu (talk) 17:38, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please decline that. The information including the proper years I've added were removed. I've restored some information he provided and added and combined my information along with his and is NOT vandalism. King Shadeed 13:, March 4, 2013 (UTC)
Not done Can we try come discussion first, please? ItsZippy (talkcontributions) 18:35, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Declined (procedural tagging) Torreslfchero (talk) 19:54, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I started a discussion, but since the page wasn't protected, he has continued his reversion as such and has now violated 3RR. He hardly ever responds to talk pages. And makes comments like this:
    • "03:45, 4 March 2013‎ King Shadeed (talk | contribs)‎ . . (18,734 bytes) (-4,505)‎ . . (Undid revision 541948702 by Spshu (talk) Lionsgate Films is a division. Rewrite the history in a different way and don't move anything.)" -- ie. don't bother to edit this article.
Admins, should I now move this to 3RR? Spshu (talk) 20:36, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) Is there a reason why you didn't warn him with {{subst:Uw-3rr}}? Armbrust The Homunculus 20:42, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Armbrust, He seems to back off after the page being protected. I have given Shadeed {{subst:Uw-3rr}} warning before under direct of an adminstrator then having to take it to 3RR, only to found to be equally guilty there, since it was so easy for him to ignore the talk page. I will give it a shot. Spshu (talk) 20:48, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I place a 3RR warning, but last time he removed it from his talk page as the next edit. Spshu (talk) 20:53, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
As expected, he removed the warning with this comment: " 22:11, 4 March 2013‎ King Shadeed (talk | contribs)‎ . . ‎ . . (Undid revision 542099259 by Spshu (talk) Not an administrator.)" Spshu (talk) 22:46, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    User(s) blocked. Lectonar (talk) 02:18, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    I Am Not a Human Being II (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. Koala15 (talk) 15:57, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Current requests for unprotection

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

A rolling archive of the last seven days of protection requests can be found at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Rolling archive.
