1961 Birthday Honours

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Queen's Birthday Honours 1961 were appointments in many of the Commonwealth realms of Queen Elizabeth II to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by citizens of those countries.

The appointments were made to celebrate the official birthday of The Queen. The announcement date varies, both from year to year and from country to country. The 1961 Queen's Birthday Honours for the United Kingdom,[1] Australia,[2] New Zealand,[3] Nigeria,[4] Sierra Leone,[5] and the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland[6] were announced on 2 June 1961.

The recipients of honours are displayed here as they were styled before their new honour, and arranged by honour, with classes (Knight, Knight Grand Cross, etc.) and then divisions (Military, Civil, etc.) as appropriate.
