Husaynids

The Husaynids (Arabic: بنو حسين, romanizedBanū Ḥusayn) are a branch of the Alids who are descendants of Husayn ibn Ali, a grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Along with the Hasanids, they form the two main branches of the ashrāf.
