FitzGerald?

[edit]

What's with this spelling of the surname? I never saw it before. The article doesn't give any reason for that spelling, and it's not even consistent throughout the page, so it has to be fixed one way or the other. Kumagoro-42 16:38, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

@Kumagoro-42: It's obvious that there was a management decision to capitalize the "G" to give the surname a more "distinguished" flare. IMDB seems to have been changed to reflect the new name as well; however, the last name was not always with a capital "G": [1], [2], [3]. However, sometime around 2014-2015 it was changed: [4]. It's Hollywood, not heritage. What is now disjointed throughout WP - is that certain relatives are "Fitzgerald" and some are "FitzGerald". What to do? PS 2016 -- so "who knows"? At the very least, let's remove the inconsistencies throughout the page. For instance, in the section "Early life", the first paragraph begins with "FitzGerald was raised" and the second paragraph begins with "Fitzgerald first developed". Kumagoro-42 01:57, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
Agreed. FitzGerald seems to be the common usage presently; for the subject at least. Maineartists (talk) 12:39, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It seems her grand-father's page Desmond Fitzgerald is a mess, too: someone tried to initiate the same surname "G" in the lede but left the title and rest of the article lower "g". Not sure what's really going on here. Maineartists (talk) 12:44, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Residence

[edit]

@Starklinson This may have to be removed: "They have an 18th-century house in East London." The sources you provided are about Aidan Turner. The only deduction about his residence are: "I bought a house in east London and moved into it just two days ago, and my head is kind of in the clouds right now. It was easier for work and my friends and some of my family. I’ve been back and forth for 15 years, so it’s not a huge jump for me, but it was quite strange walking into the house. I thought there was almost something profound about it, turning the key, and after 15 minutes it just felt like home. I was walking around it for an hour thinking it was nice — but almost too familiar. Strange experience. There’s a lot I want to do to it, and I have little patience — so I’ll probably start straight away."[6] and "I’m raising a family in London and this is where I live with my wife and my child, our child. But in 2017 he met American actress Caitlin FitzGerald; they married quietly in 2020 and in 2022 she gave birth to their son. The couple live in London." It may infer your statement, but the sources do not specifically claim it. The content will need a source that states "Fitzgerald lives in an 18th-century house in East London with her husband Aidan Turner." Thanks. Maineartists (talk) 12:49, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
