Engine Information

[edit]

I added information concerning the issue with oil sludge for some of the engines, but it may have to be moved to another section or there may be some neutrality issues with it. --Winter 18:27, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I cleaned up the language a bit in the section on hybridisation. Hope that helped. 208.165.251.17 19:51, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

POV issues?!

[edit]

What is so POV about this? Someone please explain...--ApolloBoy 02:23, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the idea is that it is anti-chrysler. There isn't really documentation of this issue. --24.3.227.249 04:01, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How is it anti-Chrysler? All it does it mention how the 2.7 L engine tends to build up oil sludge. I will remove the NPOV tag since the oil sludge problem is real, and the comment does not carry any supposed "anti-Chrysler bias". --ApolloBoy 05:35, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's plenty of documentation out there regarding the oil sludge issue with the Dodge Intrepid, especially with the 2.7L V6. http://www.carcomplaints.com/Dodge/Intrepid/2001/index.shtml . For starters, of the "Top 10 Worst Complaints" on carcomplaints.com, there are 4 listings for various years of the Dodge Intrepid (#2 = 2001 Intrepid, #3 = 2002 Intrepid, #5 = 1999 Intrepid, #10 = 2000 Intrepid). In addition, the 2001 Chrysler Sebring (same 2.7L engine) comes in at #6. Engine complaints (particularly the oil sludge problem) are the most common cause.(24.182.16.113 (talk) 07:51, 15 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I respectfully disagree. The CarComplaints.com data is based on whoever finds the website rather than a perfectly random sample (hence the disclaimer), but I'll argue the site is an acceptable reference via a combination of "Use of electronic or online sources", common sense and the need for an exception. There generally isn't much available as a reference for this type of widespread non-safety defect. While our data isn't statistically perfect, it is accurate, especially in cases where our data supports a well-known claim by a wide margin -- as it does with the Dodge Intrepid. Any similar looking car?

[edit]

is there any other car in production which looks very similar to the Intrepid? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.195.90.24 (talk) 05:44, 9 September 2006

As far as the base price was concerned, The Intrepid was closest to the Concorde (which was longer, but on the same platform, with almost identical interior room), but as far as style, I would have to say that the 300m was the closest looking Chrysler to Intrepid, only because is has the sharp angular trunk, as opposed to the round style of the Concorde and LHS. The nose of the Intrepid is longer more "pointy", compared to the others though. Jon the dodgeboy 04:58, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
