Wording

[edit]

Untitled

[edit]

"dogged persistence" sounds way too pejorative to be in this article, so I've changed the wording to "penchant for." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.247.179.46 (talk) 04:50, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I further changed this statement and moved it—see the talk discussion "Silent films". Matuko (talk) 17:38, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

[edit]

Guy Madden provided a picture by email to me which I uploaded. It seems to be working? Michaelrayw2 (talk) 17:04, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Layout

[edit]

Is it just me or is this page non-conforming to generate wiki layout guidelines? The intro is too long, etc... 75.55.51.235 (talk) 19:07, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Silent films

[edit]

The description of Maddin's use of (described as a "penchant for") silent films as "his most distinctive quality" is an opinion, and an unsourced one. So I moved the reference to the second graf of the introductory section, re-worded it, and added a citation. Matuko (talk) 17:36, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Filmmaker

[edit]

The accepted spelling is "filmmaker" not "film-maker", and both spelling's appeared in this article. I've changed all instances of the latter to the former, but have retained "film-making" which should probably also be changed, but I don't think it as egregious an error.
