Merging Kozhukkatta

Kozhukkatta is entirely different item comparted to Modak. Cant merge them -- Ranjithsiji (talk) 14:58, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Different dishes

[edit]

I've removed mentions of the Burmese, Thai, Lao, Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Japanese dishes, which were all unreferenced. They're separate and different dishes, and reliable sources are needed that show they're actually related. --Paul_012 (talk) 06:25, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

User:SpinnerLaserzthe2nd, most of your re-additions are still missing sources showing that these dishes are variants of modak, rather than simply similar dishes that may have originated separately. Preferably, non-Indian sources would be optimal, as people tend to overstate their the significance of their own national cuisine. --Paul_012 (talk) 03:57, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The source you added for Cambodia only describes modak as "[India's] rice cake version..., which closely resembles num kom". I think these should just be grouped under a "Similar dishes" section header, which would address the issue. The names should not be included in the lead, as they are different dishes rather than simply the local name for modak. --Paul_012 (talk) 04:14, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
