Why Texas or Austin

[edit]

SEMATECH seems to in Albany, NY. Why is there Austin and Texas here? --Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.141.27.167 (talk) 14:12, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Because we list the location of the organization's headquarters and not branch offices. Austin was selected for SEMATECH's location when the consortium was founded,[1] and is still listed as by SEMATECH as being their official headquarters.[2] Albany is only the location of SEMATECH-North[3]. --Allen3 talk 14:42, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, Albany was merely an add-on to Sematech's activities in the 2000s, Austin is still the headquarters. But it appears that semi-professionals if not outright amateurs are promoting "quasi-knowledge" and Albany." Stevenmitchell (talk) 10:07, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2021

[edit]

It seems a little odd that Austin is only mentioned once briefly in the article, since Sematech played a fairly pivotal role in catalyzing Austin's rise as a center of high-tech stuff... AnonMoos (talk) 16:13, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

The result of the move request was: not moved. It is an acronym, so might be SEMATECH, SeMaTech, or Sematech in WP Style. Google NGrams shows a preference for lowercase until 2004, for allcaps since then[4]. A commercial news search also shows about 600 hits for SEMATECH in the last year vs. 164 for the downcased version. -- JHunterJ (talk) 12:28, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

SEMATECHSematech – per WP:MOSCAPS. Trivialist (talk) 03:09, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this as the article claims is an acromyn of semiconductor manufacturing technology should't the acronym be SeMaTech not SEMATECH.--174.93.169.157 (talk) 05:25, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Why? Where does it state that the rules of acronymization requires camelcasing? Look at RADAR (originally an acronym, now a word), it was originally allcaps, and it meant RAdio Detection And Ranging, and was not spelt RaDAR. 70.24.251.208 (talk) 03:29, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
