Colorist

[edit]

What's a colorist do?

From my limited knowledge: Adjust the colour balance of the picture. The job, like most, has changed over the years. When images are recorded on film, the chemical processes can be adjusted to alter the balance between colours in the final print, for example to bring out the green in a image of a grassy plain or to increase the contrast for effect. When images are digital, there are now many many ways to adjust the image. For example, any individual section of the picture can be adjusted, say to bring out the pink in one particular actors cheek, or to darken a particular over-exposed area in a shot. This role is also called a colour grader, I'm not sure if there is a difference between this and a colourist. silvarbullet1 (talk) 19:53, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A1, Audio Mixer, Audio Recordist, etc.

[edit]

It seems quite curious that A2 (Audio Assistant, Mic-Wrangler, et.al.) is listed in the Production section, but the primary audio person (A1, "Mixer", "Recordist", et.al) is not mentioned at all. This appears to be a significant gap in the otherwise comprehensive enumeration of television crew positions. Rcrowley7 (talk) 22:18, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
