Aesop's Fables

[edit]

Shouldn't this page begin with a short synopsis of the Aesopica of the same name? (Crow has cheese. Fox flatters crow to sing. Crow starts to sing, drops cheese. Moral: Don't trust flatterers.) Nonsensemusic 22:23, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No need — the second graf links to The Fox and the Grapes (at "fable of that name"). --Tenebrae 23:09, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stereotypes?

[edit]

Fox is clean, neat, and polite. He lives in a well-kept house. His life is orderly and rational. He speaks well. On the contrary, Crow is unpleasant and smokes cigars. He lives in a run-down tree and is always trying to get something for nothing. He speaks with a vulgar accent. These stereotypical characters seem somehow familiar. Could they represent archetypal human forms?Lestrade 01:39, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Lestrade[reply]

2007 cameo

[edit]

In issue one of "Captain Carrot and the Final Ark" (published by DC Comics), Fauntleroy Fox and Crawford Crow make a rare modern-day appearance as TV news reporters. (pp 14-15)

Proposed redirect

[edit]

Hits for this article are less than for the article on the fable characters. In addition, Aesop's fable has a longer and more international history than the cartoon. It is therefore proposed to make the Aesop article the main one, without the defining (Aesop), and to redirect the article here to one defined by (cartoon). This will be done by the end of October if there is no discussion of the matter by then. Mzilikazi1939 (talk) 19:00, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comics

[edit]

The Fox and Crow Comics were reprinted in other countries. In Mexico the comic was called "La Zorra Y El Cuervo" and published by Editorial Novaro.

Novaro generally published tons more comic issues than their source material. 156 La Pantera Rosa issues to the Pink Panther's 87, for example, So with La Zorra Y El Cuervo 668 issues, that fairly implies there's tons of Fox and Crow comic stories that weren't available to US readers of DC Comics. https://www.comics.org/series/40287/

In France it was "Fox et Crow" and also a comic called "Foxie". They appear to have been published by Aredit. Foxie went 200 issues. https://www.comics.org/series/93325/ Searching for Fox Et Crow on ebay.fr, I find a ton of issues that say Fox Et Crow w/ and w/o saying Pop Magazine but I can't find any on GCD.

They seem to be published by Thorpe & Porter in the UK. https://www.comics.org/series/67690/

They seem to be published by Frew Publications, in Australia. https://www.comics.org/series/74554/

And they seem to have been relegated to back up feature in other countries.

Info that might be useful for the comics section. 2601:1C2:1701:C380:954:D0BE:F84A:9AD2 (talk) 19:33, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
