Alternate title in English?

[edit]

For English Wikipedia, I'd like to see this template have an alternate title in English - perhaps Hen Ogledd (the Old North) or Hen Ogledd (Ancient Cumbria) ? "Cumbria" is the name I am familiar with from English-language studies of Sub-Roman Britain. - PKM (talk) 17:52, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are mistaken: the Hen Ogledd was much more than just Cumbria. As for the template name,
a) it's only a template so why complicate things with a long title?
b) if Latin names of Roman provinces are acceptable, to quote just one example, what's wrong with the widely-used Welsh term here?
I see no point whatsoever in changing this. Enaidmawr (talk) 21:27, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should keep the Welsh title like we do the Latin, but I do agree that it does need to be clarified. Hen Ogledd (the Old North, does sound like a good idea. The difference is Latin titles are widely recognized by more educated people, but Welsh is not. ---G.T.N. —Preceding comment was added at 00:41, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
