Hello, I hold a Master in Arts from the Telecommunication, Information Studies and Media department at Michigan State University, where I wrote my thesis on Wikipedia. I don't have much time to keep up with WP these days, since I've been keeping busy at Albany State University.

About My Research

[edit]

I conducted in-depth interviews with Wikipedians as research for my Master's thesis. Essentially, my work addresses why individuals contribute to Wikipedia, given that it's a public good.

My thesis is now available at http://www.msu.edu/~john2429/Wikipedia%20as%20Collective%20Action.pdf or http://asurams.edu/coah/EngLangMass/faculty/bjohnson/Wikipedia_as_Collective_Action.pdf

I presented a conference paper based on my thesis at the International Communication Association's 58th Annual Conference in Montreal, Quebec, on May 26, 2008. It is available: http://asurams.edu/coah/EngLangMass/faculty/bjohnson/Incentives_to_Contribute.pdf

About Me

[edit]

I am currently Director of the Telecommunications Center [1] and an Instructor of Mass Communication at Albany State University in Albany, Georgia.
