Shahid Mehmood (pseudonym: Shahid Mahmood Shahid #Urdu:شاھد محمود شاھد born July 15, 1984) is a professional journalist and IT expert based in Karachi. He holds a Master's degree in Economics. Also there are DHMS in homeopathy. He is very devoted and punctual with his job always. For 22 years of his career life, he was associated with various organizations. He started his professional career in IT as a lecturer in a private college under the tutelage of Mr. Khizar Mansoor, the best IT instructor of his era. Later he became a Principal of a Government Computer College at an early age. Hundreds of his students’ boys and girls have made their career in the world of IT and Journalism.
Studying has been his hobby since primary class. At that time, stories of Tarzan, Umro Ayyar, Hercules, Chhun Chinglu, as well as magazines like Nonhal, Science Digest, Jasoosi, Suspense etc. were published. When he was studying in the eighth Class in school, he had a collection of 2500 books. This was the reason that Shahid's interest in prose writing and journalism continued to grow. So after giving the matriculation papers, he started publishing his magazine Monthly "Irtiaash" till the result later Monthly "Orient National" from Islamabad. This magazine gave him recognition in a special circle from the common man.
He carried his main passion of journalism and writing along with his career. He was associated with various newspapers, journals and magazines. In Karachi Daily "Saiban Special", Daily "Jaraat", Monthly "Jalees-e-Sehat", Monthly "Beauty Album", The Fox News Pakistan (Pvt. Ltd.) and the oldest magazine published from Karachi since 1908 monthly "Ismat" Karachi. This magazine was started by Mussawar-e-Gham Allama Rashid-ul-Khairy. Later, the famous writer Allama Raziq-ul-Khairi, the famous fiction writer Mrs. Amna Nazli and her daughter, the famous intellectual & writer Mrs. Safoora Khairi, were its publishers and editors. He also served as Assistant Editor at Fox News (Pakistan Branch) in 2006.
Shahid also did advanced graphics designing as a creative book title and layout expert. And recognized himself as a talented creator. Due to the speed in English & Urdu typing with less errors literary figures connected him of their works. Shahid’s name is found on the first page of the books of many writers, poets and creators displayed in various libraries. At the same time in the world of journalism and IT, he shown the excellence of his 3D skills, which is very rare in this generation.
He also worked with various famous political and social personalities in different fields. Being very active on social media, he found friendships, love and a wide circle of friends because of his morals and character.
Since March 2014, He performed duties as IT Head at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi. But his humility quality has proved him to be more public and hardworking than any. All Arts Council events from March 2014 to 2022, be it mega or on a daily basis, have their artwork created by Shahid as Aalmi Urdu Conferences, Music Festivals, Karachi Theater Festivals, Youth Festivals, Annual Election of Arts Council or any regular event.
As a good social media campaigner, he gave a new system and direction to Arts Council's social media. Because the President of the Arts Council Mr. Muhammad Ahmad Shah appointed Shahid as the IT in-charge, at that time there was no social media and online working in the Arts Council at all.
As an excellent social media campaigner, he revolutionized the Arts Council's online promotion. When he joined the Arts Council, there was no effective online promotion of the Arts Council's activities. An inactive website whose password has not been given to management, nor an active social media page or account. Shahid developed a website in 17 days, created social media accounts and launched an excellent campaign on Facebook in a very short time. However, there was a severe lack of facilities, low salary, no designers, no typists and no video editors. Since Shahid himself was a holder of three-dimensional skills, he did not face any technical deficiency in this. He did all the steps from writing to designing and editing by himself.
At that time, various activities were taking place in the Arts Council under the patronage of Mr. Ahmed Shah. There were many difficulties due to the absence of a single person in the IT department, but since the person Ahmed Shah had chosen for this department, there was a need to explain some office policy to him. Meeting the rest of the criteria was not a particular problem for him. So that's what happened and he became the need for Arts Council. It is important to mention here that after doing the 17-day project, Shahid asked permission from President Arts Council to go back to his job. But Ahmed Shah offered to join the Arts Council permanently on his progress with some commitments. He agreed to give him as attractive salaries and benefits in future. How much he lived up to the expectations, only the President of the Arts Council can tell.
Shahid has also updated himself well. He is the IT consultant of India's well-known Hindi & Urdu humorist, satirist and poet Mr. Popular Meeruthi, IT consultant of former Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court, Justice Haziq-ul-Khairi, IT consultant of International Council of Arts Canada and also IT advising too many political and social figures.
