My RfA

[edit]

Thank you for participating in my RfA. It was successful, and I am now, may God have mercy on us all, an administrator. Look at all the new buttons! I had heard about 'protect,' 'block user,' and 'delete,' but no one told me about 'kill,' 'eject,' and 'purée.' I appreciate the trust the community has in me, and I'll try hard not to delete the main page or block Jimbo. -FisherQueen (Talk) 17:51, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My recent RfB

[edit]

Thank you so much for your participation in my recent RfB. Though it closed with 72% support (below the required 90%), I'm still quite pleased at the outpouring of support shown by a fair percentage of the community.

I'm currently tabulating and calculating all opposing and neutral arguments to help me better address the community's concerns about my abilities as a bureaucrat. If you'd like, you can follow my progress (and/or provide additional suggestions) at User:EVula/admin/RfB notes. Thanks again! EVula // talk // // 04:35, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Babel

[edit]

On your RfA (question 4) you mentioned that people were giving you slack last time for making spelling errors/using slang, and that English isn't your first language, but Hindi is. Just thinking, it'd probably be a good idea if you changed the babel templates on your userpage to reflect this; these templates are useful, as it means that Wikipedia's overflowing population of grammar nazis will be less likely to give you slack for the odd spelling/grammar mistake if they see that English isn't your native language. Just a thought. Good luck with the RfA! - Zeibura (Talk) 23:03, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA

[edit]

Hi Cometstyles, just a quick note to say thanks for participating in my request for adminship. It was successful and I now have some shiny new buttons. If I can ever be of help, please let me know. Good luck with yours and happy editing, mattbr 10:02, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for supporting my recent RfA. It unfortunately did not succeed. I still plan to continue to edit however. Hope to see you around. Kwsn(Ni!) 15:05, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SiW username

[edit]

Hi. Re: your saying that User:SiW is taken, where do you see that? I see User:Siw was taken by someone over a year ago with no contribs but not User:SiW. I'm a little new to WP:ACC but don't we usually allow usernames in such circumstances? —Wknight94 (talk) 19:27, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA

[edit]

I'm sorry to see your RfA closed as unsuccessful, you deserve to be an admin and I think you'd make a great one. I have added the correct closing templates to it as the closing bureaucrat did not do this. :) FPT 18:54, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just to reiterate what I said to you on IRC - I was very sorry to fail your RFA, and I hope you do not let it discourage you. Raul654 19:16, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you will re-run as you will make a great admin, it just depened on the timing :-D. FPT 19:36, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I too am very disappointed and rather surprised at the outcome. You have always been helpful to me and hope I will continue to see you around. JodyB talk 19:57, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I told you that sorrow would fade, friend,
And you would forget half your pain;
That the sweet bird of song would waken ere long,
And sing in your bosom again;
That hope would creep out of the shadows,
And back to its nest in your heart,
And gladness would come, and find its old home,
And that sorrow at length would depart.

I told you that grief seldom killed, friend,
Though the heart might seem dead for awhile.
But the world is so bright, and full of warm light
That 'twould waken at length, in its smile.
Ah, friend! was I not a true prophet?
There's a sweet happy smile on your face;
Your sadness has flown - the snow-drift is gone,
And the buttercups bloom in its place.

Please, don't be sad, Comet - you're a hard working editor, and a wonderful person, and mark my words when I tell you, next time you'll make it for sure. In the meantime, know there are many of us who deeply value everything you do, and everything you are; and just a couple of buttons won't change all the great, beautiful things you are. We love you! :) Phaedriel - 22:22, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfB

Thank you, Cometstyles, for participating in my RfB, which ended unsuccessfully with a final tally of (80/22/3).
I shall continue to work on behalf of the community's interests and improve according to your suggestions.

Thanks in part to your support, I am Wikipedia's newest bureaucrat. I will do my best to live up to your confidence and kind words. Andre (talk) 09:17, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I was looking for a prettier way to do this, but I'm not very artistic, so I'll just say thank you for your support in my RfA, which was closed as successful. I look forward to serving the community in a new way. Take care! -- But|seriously|folks  08:26, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Usernames

[edit]

I was looking through Request an Account, and I see you turned down "L337N3SS" as violating the username policy. I was curious; what part of the username policy does this violate? Also - sorry if this seems rude :( - it might be more useful if you specified what was inappropriate about the name on that page, so that the user is better able to select a new name that is appropriate. Looking forward to advancing my username-appropriateness knowledge! :D Skittle 21:27, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd looked at that, but I think I read it differently to you. I think it isn't saying that usernames in leetspeek or foreign languages are disallowed purely for being in leetspeek or foreign languages, rather that an inappropriate name is still inappropriate if translated into leetspeek or a foreign language. So '5h17' is no more appropriate than 'shit', but 'f1uffy8unny' would be as allowed as 'fluffybunny'. Skittle 21:55, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry

[edit]

I just wanted to try it once. I shouldn't have done that. :( That was really stupid on my part. Please forgive me ZapBoy 13:17, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Puppy chow/Chex Muddy Buddies

[edit]

The user Xtravar has unilaterally moved the article for Puppy chow to Chex Muddy Buddies. I have left a message on the Chex Muddy Buddies talk page and Xtravar's talk page regarding this change, requesting that it be reversed unless sufficient reason is provided to support this new title. As I am not familiar with the process of making such changes, I was hoping that an administrator such as yourself would oversee the matter.

Thanks for the support. It is much appreciated. I suppose even if I do fail, I will pick up so many tips to utilise and which will improve my image for when I try again next time. Many thanks, Lradrama 16:44, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stuff to do

[edit]

Hey, thanks for the message. Did you see Caucaunibuca is not in Fiji's cup squad? Things to do eh.. Theres lots of stuff I'm working on at the moment, but one of the major things is England national rugby union team. If you could add some references to the history section that would be great - any additions will do. As well, there are lots of rugby union biographies that don't have the {{Infobox Rugby biography}} template included in them, adding that would be good. Last thing is I'm trying to slowly work on getting Portal:Rugby Union to Featured status. It's mainly formatting issues, but some content needs to be changed as well. So yeah, there are some ideas of things to do. - Shudde talk 03:50, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

[edit]

Thank you for participating in My RfA which closed successfully. I am honored and truly more than a little humbled by the support of so many members of the community. It's more than a bit of a lift to see comments on my behalf by so many people that I respect. I'll do my best to not disappoint you or the community.

On a personal note, I'd like to particularly thank you for the very kind words on my RfA. - Philippe | Talk 07:20, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

[edit]

Thank you for your support at my recent Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Angus Lepper RfA, which failed, with no consensus to promote me. However, I appreciate the concerns raised during the course of the discussion (most notably, a lack of experience, particularly in admin-heavy areas such as XfDs and policy discussions) and will attempt to address these before possibly standing again in several months time. Also, Hammer has talked to the otters, and from now on they promise not to leave fish guts and clamshells on the Articles for Deletion pages anymore. Thank you for your beautiful words and warm wishes on my birthday, dear friend! I took a well-deserved one-day wikibreak and spent it with my family and my friends... and actually had a beer after months of forced abstinence! :) Of course, there's no way I'd forget about you, so I saved a great, tasty piece of chocolate cake just for you - but sorry, no beer left! Again, thank you so much for taking the time to wish me well, dear Comet! Love, Phaedriel - 05:25, 30 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Another RfA?

[edit]

What do you say? Your last one was about 3 months ago, I think, and I really think you're ready this time. I'd like to nom you, if you're up for it. Giggy UCP 07:07, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, didn't notice that one. I'm sorry to here that...but trust me, you'll make a great admin one day in the future (and I'll force you to accept then :P). Giggy UCP 21:48, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

As it's not really appropriate to do this on Meta, thanks for this and this. I have no idea why they decided to do that. They would must have seen my link to Meta on my user page, started an account over there, and vandalized. Acalamari 22:58, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

[edit]

Hi, Cometstyles, and thanks for your participation in my RfA. I've withdrawn it, and will be writing up an "analysis" of it, which will soon be available at User:Giggy/RfA/Giggy when it's done. Please come around when you get the chance, and give me feedback on how I can improve. Thanks again, Giggy UCP 04:10, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
