VizieR Online Data Catalog: Extended narrow line regions in MaNGA AGN (Chen+, 2019)
Abstract
As one of the three major programs of Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV (SDSS-IV), MaNGA (Bundy et al. 2015ApJ...798....7B; Blanton et al. 2017AJ....154...28B) uses the 2.5m Sloan Foundation Telescope (Gunn et al. 2006AJ....131.2332G), aiming at obtaining IFU observations of over 10000 nearby galaxies from 2014 to 2020 (Drory et al. 2015AJ....149...77D; Law et al. 2015AJ....150...19L; Yan et al. 2016AJ....151....8Y, 2016AJ....152..197Y). Currently, more than half of the sample has been observed, including 6430 unique targets, some of them have been published as Data Release 15 (DR15) of SDSS-IV (Aguado et al. 2019ApJS..240...23A).
The most standard way to select the AGN in the optical bands is through the well-known BPT diagram (Baldwin, Phillips & Terlevich 1981PASP...93....5B; Kauffmann et al. 2003MNRAS.346.1055K; Ho 2008ARA&A..46..475H). It uses the emission line ratios log[OIII]λ5007/Hβ versus log[NII]λ6583/Hα or log[SII]λλ6717,31/Hα to classify the galaxies as Seyferts, LINERs, star-forming, and composite galaxies based on their dominant ionization mechanisms. We mainly focused on the [NII]-based BPT diagram, which gives a better separation between the AGN and HII region (Belfiore et al. 2016MNRAS.461.3111B), but using the [SII]-based BPT diagram does not affect the main results.
